2019 08: Aromatherapy Newsletter August 2019

Green Valley Aromatherapy – August 2019

Hello Aroma Friends,
I have to start by apologizing for all the late newsletters this year.
In 2016 I was diagnosed with cancer. It was a two year journey. I met lots of wonderful people, doctors, nurses, orderly’s, catering staff as well as my fellow patients. In 2018 I was told I was in remission, due to the help of all of these people.
Around that time my husband became sick. It seemed to me that he was depressed as he was unusually tired. This spring we decided that a nice relaxing cruise was what was needed. Two days into the cruise, my husband got really sick. The ship docked at the Big Island in Hawaii. An ambulance met us and he was rushed to the Hilo Medical Center with kidney failure. He had a course of dialysis, returned home and two days later underwent surgery on his bladder. This was how we learned that he had a very aggressive form of cancer from which he died.

Thank goodness I had essential oils to help me deal with it. During my cancer, I used Frankincense and Melissa which kept me grounded and positive throughout all of my treatments. As soon as we returned home, I put my husband on Patchouli and Sandalwood. This helped him to deal with all of the issues cancer brings and to come to terms with passing into a new existence.

All of this is part of life; being born, starting school, college, work, negotiating the adult world, rearing your own children and trying to get them to understand that you have been there and can help.

All the best,

Barb

Profile on Carrot seed essential oil:

Carrots, in general, have lots of goodness in them. I can still hear my old mum saying “finish your carrots, even if you have to leave something else.” Carrots are so good for growing children.

If you have any skin problems, Carrot Seed essential oil is a must have. I have heard that Carrot Seed helps people suffering from gout. I have never had that, but I do have old skin along with stiff muscles and joints. I have to be honest and say I do not really like the smell of Carrot Seed. However, I do add it to the cream I use before bed along with Lemongrass and Mandarin essential oil. I need the elasticity in my skin and Carrot Seed helps with this. It is also a good muscle relaxant and has the ability to release toxins out of muscles and joints. I sometimes think old age is winning the battle!!!!!

Profile on 20 year celebration blend:

This blend of essential oils was put together five years ago to celebrate 20 years in the essential oil business. Our 20 Year Celebration Blend has a medium to high aroma and gives you a wonderful feeling of success.

The essential oils in this blend are: Bergamot FCF, Cinnamon, Niaouli, Orange, Palo Santo, Spearmint and Ylang Ylang.
  • Bergamot FCF essential oil is useful in dealing with anxiety, tension and depression.
  • Cinnamon essential oil is a stimulant and is very calming.
  • Niaouli essential oil is anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and good for balancing energy.
  • Orange essential oil is very uplifting and is great for nervous tension.
  • Palo Santo essential oil is related to Frankincense and Myrrh. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial. It was used to purify and cleanse the spirit.
  • Spearmint essential oil is a top note. I love the aroma of Spearmint. I always keep a bottle with me. I have trouble keeping things filed in my brain. Inhaling Spearmint helps me with the headache I get when I am overwhelmed. It also settles my stomach.
  • Ylang Ylang essential oil is very calming and helps to slow down rapid breathing.

back to school transition blend:

I was thinking, as it is nearly back to school time, that we should have a recipe to help with the transition. I chose the essential oils in this blend as they are all recognized and accepted by children. In France they refer to Mandarin essential oil as the children’s oil. They diffuse it in classrooms and children often carry it with them.
Add these drops to a clean bottle and shake to mix. You can add 10 drops to a bath or add it to a carrier oil if you prefer to use it on the skin. For children going back to school I suggest you put a couple of drops in their shoes to keep them fresh. Add some drops to a tissue and place the tissue in their backpack or coat pocket.
