2019 12: Aromatherapy Newsletter December 2019

Green Valley Aromatherapy – December 2019

Dear Friends,
Christmas is almost here, and I hope you are organized and calm. Be sure to remember to give yourself some downtime through all the planning and coordinating. A hot bath with your favourite essential oils can be a wonderful way to treat yourself in this hectic time of year.
As human beings, we thrive on touch. We all need tactile stimulation in a healthy, respectful, and non threatening form. There has been a great deal of studies dedicated to emotional disturbance, reduced intellectual abilities and physical growth caused by lack of touch. A lack of touch creates biochemical differences extreme enough to unwittingly send people to seek touch in whatever way they can find. This is not always positive. It has been proved without a doubt that many premature babies would have died without the volunteers who come in to cuddle and soothe these tiny scraps of human beings.
With all of that in mind, I was thinking that you could perhaps give your family or friends a gift certificate for a nice, relaxing massage for the holidays. Some sedative, anti-depressant, or even aphrodisiac essential oils could be used in the massage, which would further its relaxing effects.

All the best,

Barb

Profile on jolly holiday blend:

This blend of essential oils is a warm, happy, seasonal blend of AmyrisCedarwoodCinnamon, and Mandarin.

Cedarwood essential oil helps to eliminate lactic acid and remove toxins from the joints.
Cinnamon essential oil is considered a glandular system stimulant and has aphrodisiac properties.
Mandarin essential oil helps with digestive problems, water retention, hysteria, insomnia, emotional shock, and grief. Mandarin is also considered a children’s oil in France, and schools are diffusing essential oils such as this one to help keep everyone calm.
Diffuse this blend in your home during the month of December, when kids are getting over excited, and mum is getting overwhelmed. This blend can help keep everyone relaxed while plans are being made, cards and presents are being sent off, and family is being reunited.
If you do not have a diffuser, and instead have a wood stove, keep a pot of water on it and add a few drops of the blend when needed. This will permeate the scent throughout the entire room. You could also add a few drops to a cotton ball or tissue, and keep it in a zip locked bag to use when you are out and about.

Profile on manuka essential oil:

Manuka essential oil is steamed distilled and a middle note.
This essential oil is analgesic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and an antihistamine. This powerful oil has a wonderful track record of dealing with cold sores, staff infections, sinusitis, bronchitis, flu and fungal infections as well as rheumatic and muscular pain. My problem is, I don’t like the aroma at all, but it is good for my rheumatism.
Manuka is a relatively new essential oil, as it has only been distilled in recent years. If you are anything like me, I seem to use the same oils for years at a time. I was surprised when I found out that Manuka is 30 times stronger than Tea Tree, which is one of the good old staple essential oils.

Profile on neroli hydrosol:

Neroli hydrosol is a good, inexpensive way to get the benefits of Neroli essential oil.
The essential oil/ hydrosol has many great properties. Too many to choose from. However, the most common ones are: Anti-anxiety, anti-bacterial, anti-depressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, and cytophylactic.
  • This hydrosol is really great for calming anxiety and stress as it helps soothe the central nervous system without causing drowsiness. It can also help with caffeine jitters when you have accidentally had too much or when you are trying to wean yourself off.
Some people also use Neroli hydrosol as a perfume, as it has a beautiful, floral, refreshing scent.

recipe for relaxing massage:

Add this blend to 30mls of Fractionated Coconut Oil for a relaxing massage. This blend of oils should be good for the insomniacs, as it is so relaxing. A warm bath with 10 drops of this blend will soak away your anxieties and finally allow you to relax. Add a few drops to a Kleenex and tuck it into your pillowcase, take 3 deep breaths, and it should allow you to settle down. Add 8 drops to a diffuser to calm an entire room down.
