2021 08: Aromatherapy Newsletter August 2021

Green Valley Aromatherapy – August 2021

Dear Aromatherapy Friends,
Happy August! What a beautiful ~ and Hot! ~ summer it has been. While we enjoy this final month of the season, it can be difficult to not start thinking of the fall and all that comes along with it. Children and teenagers preparing for school can feel quite apprehensive and anxious. Luckily essential oils can provide some support. One of our staff has a niece who likes the discreteness of a customized inhaler to help keep her jitters at bay. Essential oils of LavenderMandarinRose Geranium and Chamomile are known for their calming properties. Our PeaceTranquility and Stressbuster blends would be excellent as well.
Another concern this year as students and teachers head back to the classrooms are the germs and viruses that inevitably make an appearance. Colds and flu have always reared up in fall and now Covid 19 is a real worry too. Anti-viral, anti-bacterial and immune boosting oils and blends like EucalyptusRosemaryTea TreeTerminator and Auntie Vi can give you a head start on avoiding these seasonal aliments.
As much as I’ve enjoyed the lovely weather, there’s something to be said for getting cozy with a good book and a cup of tea on a cool Autumn day.
Wishing you all a wonderful August!
Barb Greenwood.

Profile on Copaiba Balsam essential oil:

Copaiba Balsam is said to be a very powerful anti-inflammatory. An excellent addition to salves and balms for healing a variety of skin conditions as well as relieving body aches and discomfort. It may provide relief from tendon, joint and muscle pain so is a great choice for the active person.

Profile on Scents of BC Blend:

Scents of BC was created after a particularly busy tourist season. As scent is an incredible way to evoke memories we made a blend of a few of the trees that grow in BC: PineCypressBlack Spruce and Cedarwood. We then added a touch of Sage, which is not exactly a tree but we felt it was needed, and bound it all together with Vanilla.
As an added benefit you have antiseptic, antibiotic, and anti-fungal properties all in one bottle.
This is great for any time of year, diffused at work, home, or school to keep on top of those nasty viruses.
This wonderful blend is now available in a 120ml Room Spray!

Profile on Black Spruce Hydrosol:

According to Suzanne Catty, Black Spruce hydrosol is a perfect choice for the adrenal glands. Its use can regenerate the adrenals and support thymus activity. This can boost the immune system and lead to a sense of well-being.
As a cold compress it can be used for pain relief and to help with inflammation of sore joints, muscles and sprains. If you suffer from carpal tunnel or repetitive strain injury, black spruce hydrosol can help alleviate your symptoms. Apply the cold hydrosol to a cloth on the affected area.

REcipe for a Natural Shave Gel:

Good for those with sensitive skin; this lovely, gentle, moisturizing shave gel is excellent for close shaves without irritation.
Mix ingredients together in a container of your choice. Should be kept in the refrigerator to maintain freshness, use within 2 weeks.

Did you know:

Green Valley Aromatherapy offers a variety of Hydrosols and Floral Waters. Hydrosol and Floral Water properties are similar to those of its essential oil, but they are much gentler. They can be used in creams, lotions, compresses, facial toner, body sprays and other recipes. Hydrosols and floral waters are soothing and antiseptic- great for skin rashes, burns & after sun. Gentle enough to be used on children and the elderly, where essential oils may be too powerful.
