Description

Amyris essential oil is a musky, rich, exotic oil. It does not initially have a strong aroma, but it is persistent. Amyris essential oil is most commonly used as a fixative for perfumes and soaps. It also has some therapeutic qualities.

Amyris essential oil is known as the “poor man’s sandalwood”, although it is not Sandalwood at all but a bushy tree known as “Amyris”. Because of this, Amyris doesn’t really have the same smell as Sandalwood. Due to its sedative properties this oil may be calming and offer stress relief. Amyris essential oil has been known to have antiseptic, balsamic and antispasmodic properties, which make it useful for coughs, washing wounds, and helping to battle the flu. This essential oil may also have stress-relieving properties and is a good base note to use if you need an earthy, warm foundation to a blend.
