Helichrysum is also known as Immortelle or Everlasting. This floral water has powerful anti-inflammatory and mild analgesic properties. It is very helpful after any surgery as it helps to speed the healing of incisions while also helping to reduce swelling and bruising. It has also been used successfully for cleaning and healing tattoos or body piercings and may help to heal scar tissue.
Helichrysum floral water works well as an after workout/sports rub due to its powerful anti-inflammatory and mild analgesic properties.
In skincare Helichrysum floral water is good for sensitive, mature, or congested skin. It can be spritzed on the face to help clear up acne. Men can use it before and after shaving to help prevent and/or heal ingrown hairs. Helichrysum floral water has been used to ease symptoms of eczema, providing soothing relief to dry itchy skin.
While floral waters differ from hydrosols, they have similar benefits. Floral waters are made by adding 1%-2% of an essential oil or absolute to distilled water. As essential oils are not water soluble, small amounts of emulsifiers and preservatives are added. These infusions still have a place in aromatherapy as the properties of the essential oils, though diluted, are still very much present. Floral waters are especially useful when working with more sensitive people, the elderly or young children.
