This essential oil actually has more similarities to Thyme, in scent and properties, than Marjoram. With its antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties it’s no surprise that Spanish Marjoram has been traditionally used in the Mediterranean, Portugal and Spain for hundreds of years to boost the immune system and fight against common coughs, colds and flu. As an anti-inflammatory and analgesic it can help ease muscle spasms and lessen minor pain and inflammation. Spanish Marjoram’s sharp, herbal fragrance has a fortifying effect on the mind and if used in steam inhalation or a diffuser, will help to invigorate and lift melancholy feelings.
