Green Valley Aromatherapy – July 2025

Dear Aromatherapy Friends,

Hello to July!

There seems to be so much to do this month! From family gatherings, to community events, every week seems to bring new experiences that remind us the joys of connection. With the longer days and shorter nights, make sure to get out there and enjoy all that nature has to offer, and create memories that you will remember fondly once the weather turns cold.

Wishing you all the best this beautiful July!

Aromatically Yours,

The Green Valley Aromatherapy Team

Profile on bergamot, fcf essential oil

Bergamot, FCF essential oil comes from cold pressing the peels of the bergamot fruit. The refreshing, uplifting, and soothing oil is best known for its potential antidepressant properties. It can be useful to help with anxiety, nervousness, and insomnia. Commercially it is used in the production of earl grey tea, and was an ingredient in the original “Eau de Cologne” recipe.

Normally, Bergamot essential oil has a naturally occuring chemical called bergapten (a furanocoumarin), which is a phototoxic agent. Because of this, many citrus-derived essential oils are unsafe to use on the skin in direct sunlight due to the furanocoumarin agent heightening the effects of UV rays. However, our Bergamot, FCF (furanocoumarin-free) essential oil is safe to use on the skin anytime because bergapten has been removed from it.

Bergamot, FCF is wonderful when mixed with other essential oils, and can be found in the following Green Valley Aromatherapy Blends:

Dream Easy is a blend of Roman Chamomile, La

vender, and Mandarin essential oils, and Vanilla boosted extract.

This blend is comforting and pacifying, and was created to help calm and soothe anyone who needs extra help falling asleep. Meant to feel like a warm embrace from a loved one, or emulate the feeling of snuggling into freshly washed bed linen, this blend can be a useful sleep aid for children over the age of 2. Simply add a drop or two to a diffuser and drift off into sweet, restful dreams.

Roman Chamomile essential oil is soothing, calming, and has a soft floral scent. It may have sedative, antidepressant, digestive, and immuno-stimulant properties.

Lavender essential oil is the most versatile essential oil. It has the potential to soothe, relax, and restore balance to mind and body. With a lovely and familiar flowery scent, this oil can have calming, anti-anxiety, and balancing properties.

Mandarin essential oil may have calming, uplifting, and sedative properties. Cold pressed from the peel, this sweet citrus smelling oil is thought to be more gentle than other citrus oils, making it useful for children and pregnant people in small doses.

Vanilla boosted extract has no true therapeutic value as it is not an essential oil, but is used as a warm, nostalgic base that unifies the other oils in this blend.
