So if you need a mental boost, or a blend to refresh a room or your car, the combination of Amyris Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Litsea Cubeba, Mandarin, and Orange is sure to clear old, stagnant air and bring new energy to a space.
Amyris essential oil is a base note with a musky, rich scent. It also may have calming, stress relieving, and sedative properties, and adds depth to this zesty blend.
Grapefruit essential oil is thought to be a “happy” oil since it may have anti-depressant and stimulating properties. Sweet and slightly sour smelling, this citrus oil blends nicely with other citrus oils.
Lemon essential oil is a photo-toxic top note thought to help ease symptoms of anxiety and depression. The distinct lemon scent is familiar to us all and is a welcome addition to this blend.
Lime essential oil has a sharper and sweeter aroma than lemon, though they are still quite similar. Lime essential oil is thought to be a stimulant, as well as an antibacterial. It adds a nice juicy smell to this blend.
Litsea Cubeba essential oil is a fresh top note that is reminiscent of lemons. With a myriad of healing qualities, Litsea Cubeba essential oil may have anti-depressant, calming, and stimulating properties.
Mandarin essential oil (also known as Tangerine) is the gentler citrus oil of the bunch. Safer for children, this oil may be beneficial if you need to be calmed or uplifted.
Sweet Orange essential oil is another “happy” oil known for its wonderfully sweet juicy tang. Derived from the peel of the fruit, this oil may have anti-depressant, uplifting, and mildly sedative properties.
This blend would be a great addition to a bath with Epsom salts as citrus oils are known to be excellent lymphatic stimulants and detoxifiers; though take care – most of these citrus oils are considered photo-toxic and shouldn’t be applied before exposure to sun.
